More Wine Darling?
By Hank Regan
“A new comedy from Hank Regan — where laughter pours by the glass.”
Cast: ten, five male, five female
Synopsis: Paddy is stuck at home with his leg in a cast after falling off the roof. His dysfunctional family isn’t making recovery any easier. His daughter is having an affair, his son is battling bouts of binge drinking, his wife can’t decide whether she’s leaving him or not, and his son-in-law is an unbearable nuisance. The housekeeper is the only one genuinely trying to help, but she mistakes Paddy’s sincere gratitude for romantic interest—something she’s not entirely opposed to.Then there’s the lonely middle-aged neighbour, recently widowed, who seems to think Paddy might be the cure for her… pent-up sexual frustrations. This motley crew drops in on him daily, bringing nothing but chaos and mayhem to an already miserable household.
A sparkling new comedy from Dungarvan playwright Hank Regan, More Wine, Darling? finds its characters gathered for an evening where the corks pop, the truths slip out, and the heart has its say. Blending wit with warmth, the play celebrates the familiar rhythms of small-town life—the stories we embellish, the jokes we tell, and the bonds that hold us together when things get a little out of hand. First developed and staged with Dungarvan Drama Circle (directed by Deirdre Collender), More Wine, Darling? invites audiences to settle in, raise a glass, and enjoy a night of laughter, charm, and a splash of chaos.
