A little bit about me…..
I’m Hank Regan, a playwright based in Dungarvan, County Waterford, with a lifelong love of storytelling, laughter, and the quirks of everyday Irish life. My plays are written to be performed — not just read — and I take great joy in seeing local actors bring my words to life on stage, whether it’s in parish halls, community centres, or theatres around the country.
My work leans toward comedy with heart — exploring the humour, humanity, and sometimes madness that make up family, friendship, and small-town life. Plays like God Rest His Soul, More Wine Darling, and Only When I’m Not Working have been performed across Ireland by groups from Dungarvan to Drumkeerin, often to full houses and generous laughter.
I started writing plays because I believe theatre should feel alive and accessible — something that speaks to real people about real lives, even when it makes us laugh at ourselves. I’m proud to see my scripts connecting with audiences and communities far beyond where they began.
If you’re interested in performing one of my plays, discussing a new project, or just sharing ideas about community theatre, I’d be delighted to hear from you — you can reach me at hankregan@yahoo.ie or by phone at +353 87 917 0326.
